The David Norton Practicum Program

The David Norton Practicum Program honors Dr. Norton, founder of Centennial Counseling Center. Training the next generation of therapists and passing along years of wisdom was a priority for David from the start. Real life experience outside the classroom was just as important as what students learned in the classroom. Centennial has mentored practicum students since 1995 and will continue to do so into the future.

Each year Centennial selects a few master and doctoral graduate students in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling. We provide orientation and weekly supervision from one of our Senior Staff. Clients are assigned as appropriate based on the student’s interests, abilities, and availability.

The MA/MS interviews occur in early January with notification generally by the end of January. Jennifer Geltz LCSW is the coordinator for the Master’s level intern program.

The PsyD interviews for both types of practicums – therapy and testing—are in February with notification done in accord to ACEPT guidelines. Dr. Jennifer McKay is the coordinator for the PsyD level programs.
