Steven Smith, MSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Steve Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University. Steve has been a social worker for over 26 years and has worked in a variety of settings. He is also a current member of the National Association of Social Workers, and the International Critical Incident Foundation.

Steve has experience with a range of issues including mood disorders (anxiety and depression), victims of crimes, victims of trauma (to include domestic violence, sexual abuse, and sexual assault), grief and loss, autism, life transitions (children leaving home, divorce, and retirement, to name a few), and suicide awareness.

Prior to joining the Centennial staff, Steve had a 40-year career in law enforcement and has been a member of the Northern Illinois-Critical Incident Stress Management Team (NI-CISM) since 2009. NI-CISM is an all-volunteer organization that provides services (not therapy) to first responders after exceptionally serious incidents.
